![]() Some PS5 headsets are more comfortable to wear for long hours than others with select wireless headsets now having battery life making the advantages of wired alternatives minimal. Price is an important factor when shopping for the best PS5 headset, but certain lesser expensive models manage to outperform the most high-end products on the market. RELATED: The Best Controllers for PS4 in 2023 The best headsets for PS5 gamers come in a variety of forms including wired and wireless with brands like SteelSeries offering noise-cancelling technology and the ability to switch between multiple sources. Despite confusion over which gaming headsets are fully compatible with the PS5, there are plenty of options for prospective buyers that easily connect to the console and provide superb audio quality. Still, many people who already own gaming headsets would rather avoid building a stockpile of gaming gear used for specific devices. If you're looking for headphones with lower non-Bluetooth latency, try the HyperX Cloud 2/Cloud II Wireless. At a relatively affordable price and supporting Sony's 3D Audio format, the Pulse 3D seems like the obvious choice for gamers shopping for a PS5 headset. They have a very good line of sight range, too, allowing you to use them further away from their audio source. Their audio latency is quite low, so your audio and video shouldn't fall out of sync. These headphones have excellent non-Bluetooth wireless connectivity. This new method has resulted in different latency values than what we had reported in our previous test bench. We now use a click track in our software, and we measure latency three times and average the results. In this update, we made changes to the way we test latency. Update : These headphones have been updated to test bench 1.5. This value seems consistent with other SteelSeries headphones. When retested again, we got an average of 33 ms. We decided to wait a bit to retest them again to see if the latency values would be consistent. When we retested these headphones a couple of weeks ago, we measured 55 ms of latency, which was inconsistent with our previous 115 ms measurement. Update : We have retested 'Non-BT Latency'. It's also worth noting that apps seem to compensate for latency, so your mileage may vary in real-life usage. With this setup, you can listen to audio from your smartphone while still gaming. Although they don't support multi-device or NFC pairing like the Turtle Beach Elite 800 Wireless, you can still pair them with a Bluetooth device. The SteelSeries Arctis Pro Wireless have great Bluetooth connectivity. As a result, we have updated our review, and the scoring of this box has changed. Once paired, you can hear audio from both outputs simultaneously. After pairing to your desired console, you can hold down the 'Bluetooth' button on the headphones for a few seconds and pair them with your phone. Instead, you have to make sure that the headphones are on the latest firmware. However, you won't need to do this when connecting to a PS5 as this console doesn't support optical. If you want to pair them up with your PS4, you also need to connect the optical audio cable from the headphones' base station to the back of the console. You have to first connect the mini-USB from the base station to your PS4 or PS5. Update : We've changed Multi-Device Pairing from 'No' to 'Bluetooth + Console/Non-BT Wireless' as these headphones can connect to a PS4 or PS5 console and a Bluetooth device at the same time. You can also use them passively with their included audio cable. There's even an auto-off timer that can be set via their companion software, and if you can't put down the game, you can also use these headphones while charging. When you're deep in gameplay, the transmitter can also show the charge level of your headphones as well as the battery that's being charged. They use one battery at a time, and they each have over 15 hours of continuous battery life, which means that you don't have to worry about running out of juice during more intense gaming sessions. Two swappable batteries can be inserted into the wireless transmitter for charging when not in use. These headphones have an excellent battery system. As a result, we haven't changed our results. We also managed to get more than the advertised 10 hours of battery life after both retests, and even though these headphones have been regularly used for several months. However, our unit is over a year old and has seen a lot of use, which could explain the difference between our original measurement of roughly 15 hours and this measurement of 13 hours. We were able to measure roughly 13 hours of playback time. Update : We retested both batteries to see if we could achieve a result closer to the advertised 10 hours of continuous battery life.
